Orillia, Ontario, April 8, 2011 - They always strive for excellence at Orillia Home Hardware Building Centre, and that goal seems to have paid off. The store was selected from 1,080 locations from coast to coast for achieving the highest standards in retailing, merchandise presentation, staff performance and overall quality of the store and was presented with the Walter J. Hachborn Award for Retailing Excellence.

Orillia Home Hardware Building Centre was recognized as the best Home Hardware Store in Canada at the company's annual Spring Dealer Market this week. The Walter J. Hachborn Award for Retailing Excellence was presented to the Orillia store by its namesake, one of the original Home Hardware founders.

"My staff and I are honored to have been selected as winners of this prestigious award," said John Locke, Dealer-Owner, Orillia Home Hardware Building Centre. "We take great pride in serving our customers, and meeting the needs of contractors, do-it-yourselfers and home renovators with quality products and service and a one stop shopping experience."

Located in the heart of downtown Orillia, the store offers a variety of highlighted service areas and departments, such as Home Expressions, Paint & Decorating, and Customer Service. Enhanced in-store communications and signage helps customers find exactly what they're looking for quickly and easily. The store's Home Expressions program offers stylish products from home décor, housewares, kitchen, bath, lighting and storage solutions categories.

The store also features garden sheds, a 10 acre lumber yard and high-quality Beauti-Tone paint with paint supplies and accessories. The paint department features the Beauti-Tone Advanced Colour Matching computer system which can match paint colours to any sample and is fully staffed by the store's paint experts.

To receive the Walter J. Hachborn Award, the store must demonstrate excellence in staff performance and customer service; interior presentation including clear signing, tidiness, and merchandise presentation and displays; exterior presentation including cleanliness and attractive window displays; staff training; and participation in dealer network initiatives.

"The Walter J. Hachborn Award represents a total team effort and shows the value of dedicated people working together to serve their communities," said Paul Straus, President and CEO of Home Hardware Stores Limited. "Orillia Home Hardware Building Centre embodies everything the award stands for."
