A simple design made of pine shelving creates a rollaway/stowaway stool, perfect for indoors or out.

Here's How

Cut the pine shelving:

          24" (4) lengths for the top and bottom

          20" (2) lengths for the sides

Cut the 1" x 2" pine:

          18" (2) lengths for joint slats

Top and bottom boards:

• Glue and clamp two pine shelving boards together for a finished measurement of 24" x 24".

• Mark a 3" radius on the corners and round off with a jigsaw. Sand smooth.

• Mark four 2 1/2" slots for the straps, starting 2" from the front and back, and 5" from each side. Drill a 1/2" pilot hole at each end of the slot and cut between with a jigsaw.  Sand smooth.

Top board:

• Position the joint slats 3" from edges, bridging the joint, not parallel to it. Screw in place with 1 1/4" screws.

Bottom board:

• Position the sides 1 3/4" in from the edge, bridging the joint, not parallel to it. Glue and fasten the sides through the bottom with 2 1/2" screws.

• Place the casters 2 1/2" from each edge and mark the location for holes. Drill 3/8" holes and mount casters with carriage bolts.

Finishing:

• Sand smooth and finish with stain and/or paint.

• Position the top on the sides. Thread the straps, trim to size, and secure with the buckles.
