Now you can create custom table linens to co-ordinate with your outdoor homewares. The project is so simple, but the results are stunning.
What You'll Need
- natural cotton cut to the following sizes: for the place mat 22 1/2" x 14 1/2"; for the napkins 16" square
- Speed Sew adhesive 2010-433
- Beauti-Tone Designer Series Paint 1858-234/742 in desired colours
- Designer Series clear base 1858-298 (untinted)
- stencils shown: Craftsman 1682-624; Go Fish 1682-625
- stencil brush
Step By Step
- Cut fabric to size. Iron flat.
- Fray side edges of place mat and all edges of napkin.
- Use an iron to press a narrow hem at the top and bottom edge of place mat and glue down with Speed Sew.
- Leave the napkins natural and stencil on a small motif or monogram.
- Leave the place mat plain or paint it your desired colour. Let dry. Stencil a design onto the place mat. Let dry. Coat the place mat with two to three coats of Designer Series silk clear base untinted. Let dry between coats. (The acylic protection makes your place mats stain resistant and they can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.)
