Inside or out, this functional mirror doubles as a towel rack. Framed with Sparkle Stone,it will shout "Fairest on the Wall"!
Decide on the width of the tile border(shown: half a sheet of tiles - 53⁄4" trimmed).
- Cut plywood backing to the mirror sizeplus border size (shown: 311⁄2" square).
- Cut plywood strips the width of the border to raise the tile area around mirror.
- Notch the bottom strip of border where you want the hooks placed so they will be inset, under the tile surface.
- Dry fit all pieces to ensure your dimensions work, including the grout joint size. On a flat surface, glue mirror in place using ceramic tile adhesive.
- Glue plywood strips in place. Add weight and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Install the hooks with #10 x 1⁄2" screws. Spread ceramic tile adhesive on plywood border, taking care not to get any on the mirror.
- Apply tiles, pressing into place and let dry overnight. Following the 'How to grout' instructions below, grout and seal. Take care not to scratch the mirror when cleaning the excess grout.
- Attach clips and wire to hang.

How To Grout
Tools:
- rubber grout float 1078-746 (for smaller projects use a rubber kitchen spatula 4140-249)
- grout finishing sponge 1610-073
- grout sealer 4574-278
Here's How!
- Mix an appropriate amount of dry grout and water to achieve a smooth, but not runny, consistency (add more dry grout if it's too runny).
- Apply grout with the rubber float, forcing grout into the joints between tiles and coating the edges. Reserve a small amount of grout to fill any voids that appear after sponging.
- Remove excess grout and wait for it to begin to set.
- When the centres of the tiles become hazy, wipe the surface gently with a damp finishing sponge.
- Rinse and repeat the process until the surface is clear of grout. If any voids appear, fill with the reserved grout.
- When the surface is dull and dry, polish with a clean dry cloth. Apply sealer.
Note: Typically, unsanded grout is used for wall applications, with thin tile and narrow grout joints (1⁄8" or less). Sanded grout is used for floor applications, with thick tile and joints larger than 1⁄8".
