Split Personality

The Mark Cullen potting bench transforms beautifully into a gorgeous outdoor bar with the simple addition of a few useful products. Dave and Karen from my Home Hardware were great inspiration on this project. It's a wonderful addition to your outdoor entertaining.

Floral Cradle

Table centrepieces are as important outside as in. They enhance the dining experience to the max. Craft this floral vase from ABS. Create it any length you desire - its low profile allows for eye to eye contact with your guests. Our project is an 18" long vase.

What You'll Need

  • ABS drainage pipe 3252-090
  • end caps 3254-633
  • ABS cement 3254-212
  • 2" x 3" spruce
  • jig saw 1268-540

Step By Step

Pipe Dreams

Vase:

  1. Cut 3" ABS pipe 18" long. Starting 2" in from
    the end, drill 1" holes with a 1" drill bit at 2"
    centres in a straight line.
  2. Glue the end caps with ABS cement.


Cradle:
Make the cradle from 2" x 3" spruce.

  1. Trace the curve of the pipe and cut with jigsaw.
  2. Sand and paint black.

 

Night Lights

Capture the ambience of a summer starry night with 3" ABS pipe cut to 18" (may be longer or shorter to meet your design needs). Group three together in varying heights for a lit table or garden art. Très chic. Très simple.

What You'll Need

  • ABS drainage pipe 3252-090
  • DOT-it® Night Lights 3697-912/903/921/930/949/958
  • end caps 3254-633

Step By Step

  1. Staying 11/2" from the ends, drill random holes ranging from 1/8" to 3/8" through the pipe.
  2. Place DOT-it® Night Lights inside the caps.
  3. Turn on the lights and place caps over the pipe ends. Safety first! When drilling holes put ABS pipe in a drill press or when using a hand drill secure in a vice.


Note
:To paint or spray the ABS pipe and caps, simply scuff and paint.The wonderful metallic finish of hammered paintwould be beautiful. To remove lettering on ABS pipe simply wipe off with Goof Off.
