N.I.S. Cement
- Is a fast drying roofing adhesive, blended of asphalt, selected solvents and strong fibres
- It can be used to bond a variety of roofing materials, including: - 45# - 65# smooth roll roofing felt - 90# slate surface roofing felt - Selvedge edge felts - Polyester membranes - MB adhesive ADVANTAGES:
- Cold process eliminates the use of hot asphalt and heating kettles
- Excellent bond - penetrating action of the adhesive forms a cohesive bond between felts
- Fast drying - allows fast installation of the build up roof membrane PREPARATION:
- Roof surface must be smooth, completely dry and free of loose materials
- If treating an old built-up roof, patch all buckels, blisters and broken seams with Excel Plastic Cement and prime the surface with Excel Non-Fibrated Roof and Foundation Coating
- On wood decks, caulk or tape all cracks, joints and knotholes
- On concrete decks, prime the surface with Excel Asphalt Primer APPLICATION:
- Follow application details and instructions of the roofing felt manufacturer
- Apply using a standard roof brush or mastic spray gun
- On felt roofs, roll or broom the entire area once per hour for several hours to ensure complete adhesion and elimination of air pockets
- After all roofing has been applied, coat the entire surface with Excel Fibrated Roof and Foundation Coating @ one gallon per square over roll roofing, 3 gallons per square over polyester membrane SPECIFICATIONS:
- Flast point: 38'C (100'F)
- Viscosity @ 27'C/80'F: 25-75 seconds
- % non-volatile: 55% by weight
- % non-volatile, 50% min
- Dry film thickness of 1 gallon per 100 sq.ft: 8 MILS
- Drying time: 1 to 2 days
- Service temperature, extended exposure: -29'C (-20'f) 65'C (150'F)
- Resistance to oils and solvents: poor
- Resistance to sunlight and chemicals: good
