Overview

Contact Cement

  • Brush grade, solvent based, premium quality contact cement offering high strength, heat and moisture resistance
  • It was developed for bonding decorative laminates to plywood, hardboard, chipboard, etc; and can be used for laminating with sheet metals or wood veneers and for priming metal surfaces
  • Can be used for bonding wallstrapping as well as metal to metal, metal to ceramic, paper to cloth, cloth to rubber and rubber to paper
  • Some plastics may be adhered also, as well as leather, canvas, cardboard, textiles and most fabrics and ceramics
  • All porous to non-porous surfaces may be bonded with this adhesive, but the bonding of porous to porous substrates is ideal
  • Even non-porous to non-porous surfaces may be mated if open time is extended and the surfaces roughed up to enhance performance
  • Also suitable for such hobbies as model airplane building, etc.
  • Bonds quickly, is fast drying, water resistant and freeze/thaw stable and requires no clamping since contact pressure alone completes the bond PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:
  • Base: synthetic rubber
  • Colour: natural - tan
  • Consistency: medium syrup
  • Shelf life: 1 year
  • Coverage: Approx. 5 sq.m./litre
  • Drying time: 10-15 minutes before mating surfaces
  • Open time: 6 hours maximum
  • Bond strength: good immediate strength improving with age APPLICATION:
  • Surfaces to be bonded must be clean and dry
  • Apply an even coat to both surfaces
  • Allow adhesive to dry at least 10 minutes at 21'C (longer for cooler temperatures or high humidity)
  • If cemented surface becomes too dry (over 6 hours) another trim coat of adhesive will reactivate it
  • Bring both surfaces together in the exact position required
  • Bond is instant and work cannot be shifted after contact
  • Using roller apply minimum of 10-12 psi bonding pressure over entire area, working from centre out
  • Bond strength improves with age
  • Do not expose to
