Product Overview
Description
- Used to prefill joints, to embed joint tape, and to conceal joints, fasteners and trim accessories on gypsum wallboard as well as for interior patching and repair work
- Specially formulated to harden with very little shrinkage 20 minutes after mixing
- This enables drywall joints to be taped and first coated with Lite Sand 90, allowed to harden, and then finished with ProRoc Ready-Mixed All-Purpose Drywall Compound, all in the same day
- Do not use in mechanical tools
- Do not mix with any other material
- Use only clean water and containers
- Application tools and mixing equipment should be thoroughly cleaned between each batch
- Contaminants can adversely affect the compound's working life
- Discard the compound when it begins to harden
- Adding more water will not prolong the working life
- Maintain a minimum 13 degrees C (55 degrees F) room and material temperature during application and until completely dry
- A relative humidity between 20% and 70% is required for proper drying of this material
- When compound first hardens, it is still wet inside and should not be painted until it is completely dry throughout
- A minimum drying time of 24 hours is required before painting
- Compound will not adhere to smooth non-porous surfaces
- Keep out of reach of children
- Specially formulated to be easy to sand
- Lighter than regular setting compounds providing similar coverage
- Low shrinkage for trouble-free joint taping
- Mixes to a smooth, easily applied compound
- Approximate coverage is 26 kg of powder per 100 m2 (1000 ft 2) of drywall panel
- 50 sq.ft. of drywall when used for joints
- Rotate stock to avoid aging problems
- Use within 60 days of delivery
- Store in a dry place
- Wallboard joints are normally finished using three coats of compound; the first to embed the tape, the second to cover the tape, and the third to finish the joint
- Can be sued for the first and second coats
- ProRoc Ready-Mixed All-Purpose Drywall Compound is used for the third coat
- Apply the first coat to the joint in a band about 64 mm (2-1/2") wide
- Tape over joint and embed with a broad knife
- Allow to dry for 90 minutes
- Apply second coat feathering it 50 mm (2") beyond first coat
- Allow to dry as above
- Apply two coats of compound to depressions made by fasteners and to corner beads and other trim accessories
- Allow to dry as above between coats
- Apply third coat to joints, fastener depressions, corner bead and other trim accessories using ProRoc Ready-Mixed All-Purpose Drywall Compound
- Allow to dry for 24 hours before sanding
- Use 120 grit sandpaper and a hand or pole sander
- Do not sand the surface of the wallboard paper
- For best results, apply a primer-sealer prior to painting or wallpapering
- For severe lighting conditions, or if a gloss paint is to be applied as the finish coat, it is recommended that the entire surface of the wallboard receive a skim coat of compound before applying the primer-sealer
- This will assist in equalizing the rate of absorption of the gloss paint and help to avoid flashing at the joints
- Mix only as much compound as can be applied in 45-60 minutes
- To prepare contents of a 15 kg bag, pour approximately 8 litres of clean, cold water into a clean pail of suitable size
- Add compound to water
- Do not stir too vigorously or for too long
- Excessive mixing will shorten the working life
- The correct consistency is a smooth creamy mixture
- Approximately 24 hours depending on temperature and relative humidity
