Chloramine and chlorine reduction filter cartridge Chloramine disinfectant is used by many municipalities to treat water. Chloramine is formed by combination of Chlorine (bleach) and ammonia. Chloramine can cause skin irritation, is corrosive by nature and is toxic to fish. Chloramines are not removed easily by typical activated carbon block cartridges. Rainfresh CA1 is specifically designed for reduction of chloramines from drinking water.
