Materials

  • Memorable Art1" x 2" pine (6')
  • 1/8" hardboard (14" x 14")
  • 1 1/2" finishing nails 2130-134
  • picture hanging kit 2352-723
  • carpenter's glue 2020-173
  • sanding block 1061-406
  • Beauti-Tone flat black paint 946 mL 1835-447
  • hot glue sticks 2047-234

Here's how

  1. Cut the pine with mitred corners to fit the outside dimension of the hardboard. Glue and nail the corners to assemble the frame.
  2. Glue and nail the hardboard backing to the frame.
  3. Sand smooth and paint with flat black paint. Let dry.
  4. Attach the hanger hardware on the back.
  5. Secure your mementos in position on the frame with hot glue.

Cast a one of a kind original art

What you'll need

  • plaster of Paris 1626-306
  • sanding block 1061-406
  • Play-Doh 7242-138
  • parchment paper 4411-292
  • white spray lacquer 1730-121
  • cooking spray

Here's how

  1. Flatten the Play-Doh to form a pancake shape on parchment paper.
  2. To make a mould, press the child's hand or foot into the Play-Doh, leaving a good impression.
  3. Spray the Play-Doh mould with spray paint. Let dry.
  4. Spray the painted mould with cooking spray. Mix the plaster of Paris to the package directions and pour to cover the entire mould. Let harden.
  5. Remove the plaster cast from the parchment paper. Pull out the Play-Doh mould. Sand or cut excess plaster to desired shape.
  6. Secure the cast in position on the frame (frame instructions above) with hot glue.
