DIY MOM Rebekah Higgs shows how she built Home Hardware’s Floating Dock Edge Package in just one day.

Rebekah’s parents have a fantastic stone wharf that juts out into the ocean from their property. It’s ideal for fishing or outdoor dining, but the 10-foot height makes for a doozy first step down to the water. She found Home Hardware’s Floating Dock Edge Package among our Backyard Projects and realized right away it would make the perfect intermediary platform, allowing for much easier swimming and boating. Rebekah settled on the 10’ x 12’ size which can hold up to 3,000 lbs of weight. That’s plenty of space and strength for a large party of bathers and sun-baskers. Her local Home Hardware delivered the Dock Edge Package materials and hardware right to the wharf, complete with detailed plans. Rebekah and her team of helpers were responsible for all measuring, cutting and assembly. The frame pieces and cross-braces fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, and the stone wharf provided a nice flat surface to lay them all out and fasten together. Once complete, they lowered the dock down to the beach to attach the floats and deck boards. The beach also made a great launching pad for the completed dock. Rebekah and her folks were thrilled with their finished floating dock. Not bad for a day’s work!
