Are you planning the perfect garden? There are a wealth of options when choosing garden soils, all specifically curated for the different types of plants, flowers, vegetables, shrubs or trees. If you already have pre-existing soil in your garden, it's a good idea to use a soil testing kit to see if it's the right fit. Once you know what soil you're dealing with, there's a wide range of garden soils and additives to help you improve it. Treating your garden soil to maximize growth will increase your chances of achieving a healthy garden. So, what is out there to improve your soil?

To get a head start on the growing season, try organic seed-starting mix. Horticultural-grade sphagnum peat moss helps to improve garden soil because it holds moisture well. Vermiculite also helps soil retain moisture and it's a great additive for heavy clay or sandy soil, making it more workable. For potted plants in the garden, you need organic potting soil that includes peat moss, compost, vermiculite, perlite and time-release fertilizer. In warm climates, cacti thrive in the right soil. Cactus potting soil includes the aforementioned potting soil components as well as washed sand.
