ST. JACOBS, ONTARIO – June 3, 2020 – Ryan Buck of Buck’s Home Building Centre in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia has been named one of the independent hardware industry’s seven 2020 Young Retailer of the Year honorees by the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA).
The Young Retailer of the Year program, now in its 24th year, identifies and promotes the next generation of aspiring independent home improvement retailers. It recognizes individual achievement by industry retailers age 35 and younger throughout Canada and the U.S. Selected from three separate retail categories, honorees are chosen based on a number of criteria, including professional milestones, community engagement, continuing hardware industry education and extracurricular activities.
“It is truly an honour and a privilege to receive this award,” said Ryan Buck, Dealer-Owner, Buck’s Home Building Centre. “To be acknowledged with this level of talent from all over North America is a humbling, and gracious honour. This is truly a testament to the efforts of our dedicated team.”
Ryan began his career in home improvement retailing 26 years ago. At the age of 5, Ryan would work alongside his parents on Friday evenings stocking shelves. In 2006, after returning home from Wilfred Laurier University, Ryan developed and grew the installs sales division over 12 years with the help of an administrative assistant and two full time estimators. He currently owns two stores with his wife Julie including Buck’s Home Building Centre in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia and New Germany Home Hardware Building Centre in New Germany, Nova Scotia.
