January 2023 Tool Review

In this issue, I have the opportunity of reviewing the Milwaukee® M12^TM Green 360^o 3-Plane Laser Kit.

Milwaukee® is stepping up the laser level game with this new 3-Plane, compact and easy to use laser kit. The unit is self-leveling and quite accurate (Milwaukee® claims +/- 1/8" at 35 feet). The level also claims a full 15 hours of runtime on a single charge. It has a working range of 125', and up to 165' with the included deflector.

Features include a super bright green laser which has been optimized for distance. In testing, this colour is much more visible than some of my older red coloured lasers (no coloured glasses needed). The side panel has a micro adjust control for smooth, adjustable dead-on accuracy. The unit claims to be impact resistant to ensure it stays functional even when used out on the toughest job sites. It's also moisture and dust resistant.

The side panel also features the plane controls, which allow you to choose between 3 separate planes (horizontal, front vertical and side vertical). The planes are also combinable. The default setting is horizontal or last setting used. The on/off selector includes an unlock button, to be used when setting up the level, and an on button, which locks the pendulum. The laser lines will flash every 8 seconds to indicate that the projected lines are not level. The operator’s manual has easy and comprehensive information on improving accuracy. The base of this level swivels and has magnetic rare earth magnets for use with steel studs or beams.

The kit includes the laser, a REDLITHIUM^TM XC 4.0 battery, an M12^TM charger, target and padded hard plastic carrying case. This is everything you need to start shooting some accurate lines on your next job site.
