This spring, Home Hardware kicked off the 2022 PRO Road Shows for contractors by showcasing the latest Cat® and other major brand power tools in the parking lots of 10 Home Hardware Building Centre stores in Ontario. For those unfamiliar with the Cat® brand, it was their opportunity to talk to Cat® representatives about the tools, see them firsthand and demo them.
Inside the Cat® booth, were some of the most popular Cat® 18V Brushless power tools, including the DX12 1/2” Hammer Drill (1239-016); DX13 1/2” Hammer Drill (1239-017), powered by the resilient graphene battery; DX71 Impact Driver (1239-307); DX 21 SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer Drill (1239-602); DX 52 Reciprocating Saw (1270-210) and DX532 7-1/4” Circular Saw (1265-004).
Hands-on demos of the Cat® tools included a 6x6 drilling demo with GRK screws for the DX13, DX12 and DX71. There was a 6x6 cutting demo to showcase the cutting performance of the DX52 and DX532, and finally a concrete drilling demo for the DX21. All attendees were excited to get an opportunity to try all the tools and put them to the test. “It was a great opportunity for the contractors to finally touch and feel our new Cat® power tools and put them to the test,” said Warren Rajroop, Positec National Account Manager. “They got a chance to ask questions about key features and the performance. There was great engagement from all the attendees, who had only previously heard about the assortment through Home Hardware and word of mouth.”
One of the standout tools demoed at the shows was the Cat® DX13 Brushless 1/2” Hammer Drill with graphene battery (1239-017). Graphene battery technology gives the DX13 the more power to outperform, ability to charge faster for minimal downtime, and overall longer life than a traditional lithium-
ion battery. The 1/2” hammer drill features a brushless motor with a two-speed, all-metal gearbox. The low speed range is 0-550 rpm (no load), and high speed is 0-2,200 rpm (no load). In hammer mode, the drill delivers 0-8,800 blows per minute (bpm) in low speed and 8,800-35,200 bpm in high speed. The Cat® 1/2” Hammer Drill has an impressive 700 in-lbs. of torque.
