Today, that commitment extends to the future of the skilled trades through our national partnership with Skills/Compétences Canada.

Home Hardware’s Partnership with Skills Canada

Home Hardware became the presenting sponsor of the Skills Canada National Competition in 2024, marking the first time a home improvement retailer has held this role. The partnership reflects our dedication to supporting the next generation of skilled tradespeople and addressing Canada’s growing demand for skilled labour.

In 2026, Home Hardware deepened its commitment by becoming the title sponsor of the competition, marking yet another first as the inaugural title sponsor of the event’s history. As part of this sponsorship, the event is recognized as the “Skills Canada National Competition Presented by Home Hardware.”

At the competition, Home Hardware connects directly with students through interactive experiences such as our Try-A-Trade® booth, where participants can develop hands-on skills and learn more about careers in the trades.

Expanding Support Across Canada

In addition to supporting the national competition, Home Hardware is expanding its involvement at the provincial level. Beginning in 2026, we are working with Skills Ontario to support provincial competitions that help students qualify for the national event.

At the provincial level, our involvement includes participating in ceremonies, presenting awards, and engaging directly with top-performing students and emerging local talent. This hands-on approach allows us to connect with students, educators, and industry leaders while showcasing the strength and support of our network of stores within the trades community.

This partnership also creates meaningful opportunities for Home Hardware Dealers to get involved in local Skills events within their own communities. By participating, Dealers can mentor students, highlight the tools, materials, and services available at Home Hardware, and raise awareness of the importance of skilled trades across the province.

Through these efforts, Home Hardware is helping inspire the next generation of skilled trades professionals while strengthening connections between industry, education, and local businesses. Together, we are creating opportunities for young talent to thrive, for our stores to grow and lead in their communities, and for the trades sector to continue developing and innovating across Canada.
