Here’s How to Build a Backyard Oasis

Your backyard can have many features; a manicured lawn, beautiful flowers, and a bountiful vegetable garden are all worthy additions. But a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors with family and friends is also important. DIY expert Addy Gray wanted just such a space, along with privacy, warmth, and a cozy atmosphere. • (15) 4” x 4” Pressure Treated Sienna Boards

• (1) Concrete Mix (30 kg)

• (1) BeautiTone WoodShield Stain (five 3.4 litre cans)

• (4) Adirondack Chairs

• (1) Wood Log Holder

• (1) Campfire Ring

Here’s How to Make It

Our family loves being outdoors. We also love the idea of an outdoor fire pit and what it would bring to our backyard. That includes cozying up together, roasting marshmallows, telling stories and just watching the fire flicker and dance through the evening. But for this to really work we also need privacy. Therein lies the problem: we have a very open yard with easy sightlines from our neighbours’ properties. So, we hit upon the idea of adding a privacy fence to create our dream outdoor space. Our local Home Hardware provided all the materials we needed, along with some helpful tips and advice to speed the project along.

We put a lot of work into our space and I’m so happy with how it turned out. This past weekend we were finally able to enjoy a fall fire in our backyard oasis—the first of many to come! As with all projects, our local Home Hardware was the primary resource for all things that help turn our lovely house into a happy home.
