Workshop Lighting

Here’s How to Light Up Your Workshop for Any Job or Task

Whether your workshop is in the basement, garage, shed, or other outbuilding, you need to illuminate your work area properly. LED workshop lights provide evenly distributed light that is brighter than traditional fluorescent bulbs. LED shop lights are also more energy efficient and will last longer, making them more cost-effective in the long run. Fluorescent bulbs are still a popular choice for ambient workshop lighting, but they cost more to run and need replacing more frequently. If your space requires multiple shop lights be sure each unit can be linked fixture-to-fixture so you can daisy-chain them together. A mounting chain is also a benefit as you can suspend the lights at an optimal height for your space. Smart switches and Smart plugs are also available to enhance the security and convenience of your workshop.

You’ll also want some task lighting for your workbench. A desk lamp should suffice for lighter work, or you can opt for a workbench light with a clamp for more stability. If you have storage modules above the bench consider under cabinet lighting to illuminate your entire work surface. Portable LED work lights are also handy for use in places away from your main work area.
