Home Hardware’s Board Chair Named as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women

St. Jacobs, ON, November 30, 2017 - Christine Hand, the Chairman of the Board for Home Hardware Stores Limited has been recognized as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women by the Women's Executive Network. Announced in Toronto, Ontario, 'Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards' celebrate the professional achievements of strong female leaders in private, public and not-for-profit sectors across the country.

The awards honour remarkable women in nine different categories, highlighting those who fearlessly push boundaries in their careers, amongst peers and for their communities. WXN's Founder Pamela Jeffery started Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards in 2003. Since then, WXN has celebrated the accomplishments of 1,000 women through the Awards, putting Christine in the illustrious company of Canada's most influential and revolutionary women in business.

"I am truly honoured to receive this award from The Women's Executive Network," says Christine Hand, Dealer-Owner of Handyman's Home Hardware, Conception Bay South, NL and Chairman of the Board, Home Hardware Stores Limited. "To be recognized and stand among these other recipients, both past and present, is a privilege. Home Hardware is a remarkable company that encourages and supports the ideals and values of the Top 100 Awards, and will continue to be a place in which women are given all the resources and opportunities to meet their potential.

A longtime Home Hardware Dealer-Owner, Christine Hand was first elected to the Board of Directors of Home Hardware Stores Limited in April 2003 and in April 2012 became Chair. Christine is now in her sixth consecutive term as Board Chair. She has been awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Award in recognition of her extensive volunteer efforts.

"We are so proud of the accomplishments of Christine Hand, who has played such a vital role in building Home Hardware and helping us become, and remain, Canada's largest independent home improvement retailer," says Terry Davis, CEO, Home Hardware Stores Limited. "This recognition from WXN speaks to Christine's passion and dedication to Home, and to the strength of this company's leadership.
